Kleines Update

Last summer I had the idea for a globe, where the wholes between the modules form a star shape. Robin aka Praise Pratajev folded it for me:

Nevertheless I was unsatisfied with the units, that's why I concentrated on the modell again and finally improved it. Now it is also possible to make some variations.

First Contact Day

April 2063 stattfinden.

Today it is a really special day, fifty years first contact with a extraterrestrial life form. No, I’m not talking about the incident in Roswell. Our first contact with aliens WILL happen on April 5th 2063.

This day was dokumented in the movie „Star trek – First Contact“ and the species, that is going to land on earth is nothing less than the Vulcans. The special thing about it is that it’s not the beginning of death and destruction, but of peace and progress on earth. I would say such a positive vision of the future is worth it to be celebrated.

Due to this, I made an approach to this topic from the view of an Origamist. Most of the paper models concerning to Star Trek are spaceships. But unfortunately Vulcan ships are that challenging, nobody has ever folded one. If you are curious about what the result should look like, take a look here and here.

Still there are Vulcans you can fold: Anita Barbour designed a Spock mask, which looks a bit grim, that’s why I call it just a Vulcan. The instruction can be found >>here<<

There is also a funny video-instruction by Jeremy Shafer, showing how to fold elves-ears. After only a little shaping you can use this as the famous pointy ears of the green-blooded Aliens and the great thing about it is you can put them over your won ears. My little tapir tried them on.

Fold long and prosper!
