Nun sind wir wieder im Dezember angekommen und der vorletzte Feiertag, den ich vorstelle, ist das Luciafest. Auch hier gab es viele verschiedene Traditionen in mehreren europäischen Ländern. Das Lucia Fest, wie wir es heutzutage kennen ist im Grunde eine erfolgreiche Rettungsaktion. Der Brauch, in weißen Gewändern und mit Kerzen zu feiern stammt nur aus einer kleinen Region Schwedens und drohte Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts zu verschwinden. Bis schließlich um 1927 das Skansen Museum in Stockholm die Tradition ins Programm aufnahm. Die darauf folgende Aufmerksamkeit wurde so groß, dass der Brauch gerettet wurde und heute weit über die Grenzen Schwedens hinaus bekannt und beliebt ist.
Die Kerze, die ich dazu gefaltet habe, fällt in die Kategorie „ich-konnte-nicht-widerstehen“. Man kann die Kerze von Tatsukuri‘s Origami auch ohne Ärmchen, Beinchen und Gesicht machen, dann ist es eine ganz normale und sehr schöne Origami Kerze, aber es macht nur halb so viel Spaß… Die Anleitung dazu gibt es hier.

Now we are back in December and the penultimate holiday I am introducing is the Saint Lucy‘s Day. Again, there were many different traditions in several European countries. The Lucy‘s Day as we know it today is basically a successful rescue operation. The custom of celebrating in white robes and with candles only originated in a small region of Sweden and was in danger of disappearing at the beginning of the 20th century. Until finally, around 1927, the Skansen Museum in Stockholm included the tradition in its programme. The ensuing attention was so great that the tradition was saved and is now known and loved far beyond Sweden's borders.
The candle I folded for this festival, falls into the ‘I-couldn't-resist’ category. You can also make the candle by Tatsukuri's Origam without the arms, legs and face, then it's a normal and very beautiful origami candle, but it's only half as much fun... You can find the instructions here.
