It was clear that it would come to that at some point. Not only do I hardly have time for the advent calendar at the moment, today I'm also showing a variation that has a nice folding sequence, but which I think is very difficult to draw.
After I had written to someone earlier that I didn't have time for video instructions, I resorted to them now. However, it is also more of a folding demonstration than a real video. I would like to have a software that allows you to draw directly into a video - and it should be affordable.
Until then, you'll have to make do with my little spontaneously created film.
This variation is not really my idea. I saw it several times in stars by Maria Sinayskaja (here) and thought, a shape like this should be possible on the Kalami Star as well. Even though I am not entirely sure, if this is the way, she was folding it on her stars, the outcome looks the same.
Today I have the first tough cookie for you. The creases get a bit more delicate and there is a so called „wrap around“. You turn the paper from outside to the inside to achieve a colour change. If you are not used to this, try folding it with bigger paper. And as a last resort you can just skip the wrap around and make the star without the colour change.
Heute brauche ich mal eine Pause. Somit seid Ihr heute dran.
Today I need a break. So it’s your turn now. Show me your favourite combination of the Kalami Star and post it on facebook or instagram. Use the tag #kalamistar so I can see it and share it.
Maybe because I really like Origami tessellation, I always tend to find a way to include 30 degree angles or something with six in my models. So I had to find a way to fold the Kalami Star with six units.
